ANNA NORDIN

Anna Nordin has been riding and driving horses since an early age. Although horses were not in her family, it is still in her blood. It is what she does.

She was born in the northern part of Sweden and before she came to the United States in 2003, she finished a three year program at Bollerups Agricultural Institute, one of the leading schools and Warmblood breeding facilities in Europe.

Her career started with jumpers. Training under some of the best riders in her country, Anna an exceptional dressage background. She has taken that knowledge with her to the schooling and training of horses up to Prix St. George level, jumpers thru level 7 and combined driving horses at the international level. At the age of 19, her dreams to become a professional rider came to a halt after a fall off of a young horse. One of Sweden’s Four In Hand drivers had already opened his eyes to Anna’s qualities with horses. He quickly got her up on the carriage and she was on her way to becoming a well renowned combined driver.

The accident she had did not stop her from riding jumpers and dressage horses. Less than a year after the fall, she was back in the ring showing young horses, which was always her biggest interest.

She was brought to this country to train and compete a team of horses on the international circuit. Soon, she realized that the United States had much to offer and Anna was quickly riding and training Hunters and Equitation horse with well-known trainers throughout the east coast.  She worked together with Debbi Connor in Florida where she got her knowledge, in what she calls, "the American way".

Teaching, horses or riders, has always been Anna’s passion. She always highlights the basics. “If we have the basics, the rest will come with ease”, she says. “A good base is the key in success”.

Anna has been showing horses and ponies her whole life. From school masters to pony trotters, upper level dressage horses to combined driving, sale horses to jumpers. “Being an avid competitor makes me not settle with an OK, I always want a little more”. That helps Anna as a trainer get the most out of her students. “I make sure my students learn the basics, and with basics, their confidence grows, with confidence, their competitive side comes out”. She spends a lot of time with her students discussing why we do, what we do and how it affects the horse and it’s function.

Being part of so many disciplines has given Anna a totally different and wide knowledge about horses and riders.
